Physical Education
A quality Health and Physical Education Program supports the physical, intellectual, and social-emotional development of students. When students maintain adequate levels of physical fitness and make healthy choices, the conditions and opportunities for learning also increase. For these reasons,Physical Education plays an integral role in a comprehensive educational program at Centreville Layton School.
All Centreville Layton Students participate in Physical Education classes. In the elementary and middle school, students attend Phys. Ed. with their homeroom. In the high school, students attend class as part of an elective. All high school students must take one full credit of Physical Education over the course of a four-year program.
The benefits of teamwork, sportsmanship, the importance of rules, the ability to problem solve, a desire to achieve goals – these are the life skills imparted through physical education. We encourage all students to work towards their personal best.
At Centreville Layton School we understand the inherent value of exercise, games and competition. We use physical education as a self-affirming instructional experience, which provides our students with time to learn, exercise, and to have fun.
Our Students are at different developmental levels, with different needs and interests. Activities are geared towards a wide range of skill and fitness levels. Through participation in Physical Education at Centreville Layton School we hope to develop skillful, fit and knowledgeable movers who will enjoy a lifetime of participation in physical activities.
