World citizenship is the foundation of the social studies program at Centreville Layton School. Knowledge about community is broadened through a study of people around the corner and cultures around the world. The social studies program balances textbook learning with exciting, hands-on opportunities. Field trips, guest speakers, pen pals, and visual media enhance student discovery of cultures past and present.
Lower School students learn about the importance of community membership and the aspects of various communities that make them unique. Middle School students build on this knowledge as they learn and practice the study skills needed to be successful in future educational experiences.
